We are Food Justice DMV… an all volunteer collective standing with thousands of neighbors throughout the DMV.

Many volunteers become regulars and those who once might have been strangers or an abstraction are now the child who ran out and giggled as they helped their parent with the comida.
200 people can now add food delivery to their resumé and 700 plus volunteers keep our wheels turning.

We are your back up singer from start to finish. We prefer you are confident instead of confused. Español is a plus, but not required. We provide sample messages y teléfono support. Volunteers do deliveries by neighborhood to save time and reduce vehicle emissions. The typical delivery takes a total of 1.5 to 3 horas from the time you pick up the family’s goodies to the time you complete your last delivery.
Tuesday | Virginia
Every Tuesday 30-35 volunteers deliver to approximately 150-200 families. The community leaders deliver weekly to 1,300 people in churches, neighborhoods, and restaurant workers.
10 to 11:30 am pick up window - Easy-peasy arrangements can be made for mid-day or post-work deliveries.

Thursday | Maryland
Our power house 30 DC & MD community leaders deliver to approximately 3,500 families monthly including 12 churches, 7 NGO’s including just- released hospital patients via Medstar, a senior center, PGIRC, a Black DC book store Sankofa, 5 neighborhoods, 3 apartment complexes and 2 schools (University of MD and DC International) and more!

Host a Baby Shower!
Are you someone who enjoys planning or hosting gatherings? Want to "pamper" babies while having fun? Host a baby shower for us with your family and friends!
Diapers and baby formula are two of our most expensive recurring costs, requested by about 60% of families we support. Your event can help us meet this massive need. Pick a date, invite your community, and ask everyone to bring a "gift" (diapers and/or formula) which FJDMV will distribute to families.
We'll provide you with party games, invitation templates, and plenty of support while planning — everything you need to make this the easiest event you’ve ever thrown!
This is also a great volunteer opportunity for groups, neighbors, congregations, schools, book clubs, grandparents, etc!

Fundraising Volunteers: We have an incredible need for funds. 100% of our funds goes directly to the families, and there is a vast need. Food insecurity and fundraising your twin passions? Join us!
Data Manager: Calling all spreadsheet wizards! We are seeking a data manager who can maintain a spreadsheet tracking our Virginia deliveries and expenses. This person will need to process weekly numbers collected from our distribution coordinators and produce regular reports summarizing the information. Needs to be good with numbers and detailed accounting.
Grant Writers: If you're great with proposals, come join our grant team! This small but mighty team researches, tracks, and applies for grants throughout the year to fund our distributions. Grant writing experience is a plus, but we can also train anyone who can write compelling narratives and is comfortable with numbers.
Designers: Have a knack for graphic design and/or illustration? We are looking for volunteer designers who are willing to take on occasional design projects from our various teams, such as designing flyers for our fundraising events or materials for new programs we launch.
